The Mosin Minute – Episode 72: Shooting the Yugo Mauser M24/47 at GPSR 1-22-11

Rating: 5
Welcome back! Sorry I had to post a video out of order (Episode 75), but I was working on these other ones before I found out about the DocTacDad video contest, which I gladly decided to enter at the last minute. While I didn’t win anything, it was still fun reposting some older footage shooting clays…or as I call it, WCPA: When Clay Pigeons Attack! But let’s go back to my most recent trip to the gun range… As you all know about my numerous trips with the K98 Mauser to Garland Public Shooting Range, you will also know that I’m getting more concerned about the barrel life remaining in that same gun. I bought the K98 the same time I ordered another Mauser, the Yugoslavian M24/47. And while I prefer the performance and general reliability of the K98, it’s time to let that gun rest a while and to start using the M24/47 more frequently. Overall, I can’t sing enough praises about the M24/47 as a good combat rifle…It’s very well balanced, fairly robust and easy for an average-sized shooter, and it’s EXTREMELY accurate…and very cheap. It’s easily $100-$200 less than your average Russian-capture K98, and usually in a lot better shape. The bolt is very clean (not over-blued like the K98 capture rifles), and what I really like is the fact that the follower is notched out at the rear…so you can close the bolt when it’s unloaded, without having to press the follower down. Now, in combat, that may mean you might waste time closing it and not realizing you fired your last shot

Chief Joseph Trail Ride 2009

Rating: 0
Advertisement that aired at the 2009 World Championship Appaloosa Show on the Big Screen in the John Justin arena. The Chief Joseph Trail Ride has been considered one of the most historical trail rides in the US today. Since 1964 the ride has retraced as closely as possible the 1350-mile trek the Nez Perce made during their flight from the US Cavalry in 1877. This year we will be starting at Darby, MT in the Bitterroot Valley. We will head south and east over Gibbons Pass and down into the Big Hole Valley. We will conclude at the Big Hole National Battlefield, considered one of the most historical and sacred sites of the Nez Perce Trail. www.appaloosa.com
